Before the cartoon series superman in the D.C. comics ACTION COMICS only had the ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound, but the animators working on the series found this to be silly looking once animated, so he was then given the ability to fly. Even to this day these cartoons are influencing cartoons and comic artists.
